David's Treasure Chest

Halito (Hello) Oklahoma DECA,

As you may not know I, David Scott, am serving as your 2007-2008 State DECA Treasurer!  I just graduated from Ada High School, and I will be attending Oklahoma City University this coming year.  This university also happens to be the site for this year’s Fall Leadership Conference.  It will also be in conjunction with the conference for Business Professionals of America (BPA), and we are excited to be able to work so closely with another great CareerTech organization.  This year has already flown by extremely fast, and I am excited to continue our journey this upcoming school year.  This year, the state officers hope to make your DECA [X] perience as enjoyable as possible.  If you ever need help or just have a few questions, do not hesitate to contact one of us.  If you attend Cache, Anadarko, Clinton, Duncan, Weatherford, Fletcher, or any other school in that area of Oklahoma, I will hopefully be able to come speak to your chapter in person since these schools are in my district of the state.  This year we will also be trying to get DECA more involved in service projects which is the one I care about.

http://www.invisiblechildren.com/home.php , if you have not heard of this tragedy, it is the story of oppression and survival in northern Uganda.  The children here are not prized for their potential to learn and grow like in America.  Their potential lies in their ability to shoot and kill.  Children are taken captive by an army that’s trying to overthrow the government and if they don’t join their army then they are shot in the head, or killed in another brutal way.  This is an epidemic that doesn’t seem to phase us since it is so far away, but it is just as prevalent as any other human disaster.  Maybe even more so because we know it is something we can help stop.  If you are interested in helping or if you just want to talk, you can email me or if you have a facebook or myspace page you can add me to your friends list, and so for now I say goodbye and good luck in all your endeavors.

   Sincerly,

David Scott
State DECA Treasurer
