A Recommended List of Local Officer Duties

President

Creates and types agenda for each meeting
Gives Advisor agenda on disk two days before a meeting
Presides over each meeting
Prepares Fall Copy of the Chapter's Program of Work and submits to State Office by due date

Vice President

Assists President
Presides over meeting if President is absent
Makes all arrangements for meeting place, speaker, etc.
Directs all committee work

Secretary

Prepares all correspondence (Letters, thank you, etc.)
Takes roll at each meeting
Takes minutes of each meeting
Gives Secretary's Report (Minutes) at all meetings
Types minutes within two days of each meeting
Gives copies of minutes to President & Advisor

Treasurer

Keeps financial records up to date
Gives financial report at monthly meetings

Reporter

Writes newspaper articles about chapter
Meets all Print Deadlines for the OKDECA Newsletter or Deadlines for OKDECA Website
National DECA publication, Dimensions
Sends news and photos to local cable TV channel, local news
Takes photos of all DECA events
Turns photos in to Historian

Historian

Prepares Program of Work (POW) scrapbook according to DECA guidelines
Turn in finished POW Sections by Advisor's deadlines
Submit POW Scrapbook to state office by deadline
Attend State CDC competition interview about Chapter's POW

Parliamentarian

Keeps order in meetings (control talking)
Be able to settle questions of parliamentary procedure as they arise

Chaplain/Motivator

Prepares/gives inspirational speech or story at meetings
Promotes the general welfare of DECA


All chapter officers are encouraged to communicate with their parallel officer on the State Action Team to increase communication between the local and state level
